The Mini-Legend of Korra

July 23, 2010

AvatarSpirit.net board member MoonlitShadow attended the Avatar signing with Bryan Konietzko & Mike DiMartino at the San Diego Comic-Con today, and returned with the following bit of Korra news…

So, Im currently using my iPod to type a short message, but I just got out of the avatar signing at the Nick booth. One pretty big piece of info- Korra IS a miniseries, and Bryke is happy because tha means they can really make an impressive 12 episodes instead of hits and misses like they felt they had with original series. Also, expect Korra to air in LATE fall 2011.

I’m sure some will be disappointed that it will not be a full season, but this could work out for the best. At least we can be sure that Korra won’t be making any trips to the Great Divide.

Zuckerman To Score Korra?

July 22, 2010

Fellow Avatar fan Matt Patches from UGO was able to shoot some questions Jeremy Zuckerman’s way during a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con. When asked if he were open to returning to compose for “The Legend of Korra,” Zuckerman responded with a resounding “absolutely!” Jeremy Zuckerman along with Benjamin Wynn, comprised the band known as The Track Team, who were responsible for the iconic music & sound design in “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”

I for one could not be more pleased to hear Zuckerman’s enthusiasm. Whereas the characters were the heart, The Track Team’s score was the soul of the original Avatar. An Avatar without their musical talents would be like Star Wars without John Williams.

Last Airbender Manga Announced

July 27, 2009

During Comic Con ’09, Del Ray Manga a division of Random House announced they will be releasing a Manga based on M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender. No release date has been announced yet.  Dave Roman will be writing it and   Nina Matsumoto will be creating prequel art.

Coupled with news of a new toy line just last week based off The Last Airbender, this gives Avatar fans even more to look forward too.
