Aang Goes Global

January 28, 2010

Empire Online obtained the international poster for The Last Airbender, which merges the two recently unveiled Aang & Zuko one sheets into one, thus adding yet another poster to the growing pantheon of Orange/Blue movie posters.

The Last Airbender is set to open August 13, 2010 in the UK.

Two New Teaser Posters

January 26, 2010

Yahoo! Movies updated their Stills gallery today with two new teaser posters for The Last Airbender, featuring the titular character Aang on one, and a very Book 3-ish looking Prince Zuko on the other.

It is interesting to note that these posters are running with the vague Summer 2010 release date, rather than the official release date of July 2. A release date shift could possibly be in the works, to steer clear of the third Twilight film.

Looking Ahead

November 24, 2009

Those sparkling vampires, and buff werewolves of the Twilight saga may be the biggest hurdle The Last Airbender will have to overcome to reach box office success next year. New Moon, the second of the Twilight films, opened this past weekend grossing an astonishing $142 million, smashing the highest grossing Midnight opening and single day records in the process. The next film in the saga, Eclipse, opens next year on June 30, a mere two days before The Last Airbender hits theaters. What the wild success of New Moon spells for The Last Airbender at this point is uncertain, but it wouldn’t surprise us if Airbender’s release date is pushed up or back at least a week in light of the very real competition Eclipse will surely bring to the box office.

Producer Marshall Talks Airbender

December 17, 2008

Collider.com has an exclusive video interview with The Last Airbender producer, Frank Marshall! An interesting point from the interview is that they are “committed” to three films like they were committed to making three Indiana Jones films. He also mentions that they’ll be filming in Philadelphia, Greenland, and the Far East. Filming is scheduled to begin in March 2009, with the film to be released late 2010, or early 2011. Looks like that July 2, 2010 release date isn’t so solid anymore.
